Halifax's St. Patrick's Day Parade will be moving from the street to the screen this year.
A virtual event featuring music, dancing, jokes, baking, stories and more will take place on Sunday, March 14 starting at 1 p.m.
People are asked to go to halifaxstpatricksdayparade.ca on March 14 to find the link to show.
“We will have a little flag raising at city hall to mark the beginning of St. Patrick's Day celebrations, which will be very muted this year,” said event chairman, Brian Doherty.
Doherty also owns The Old Triangle Irish Alehouse, which put out a joint statement with Durty Nelly's to announced they both will be closed on March 17 “in the best interest of the health of our staff and potential guests.”
Doherty told NEWS 95.7 fill-in host Jordi Morgan he feels restaurants are a relatively safe environment with many COVID-19 safety controls, but there's the potential for large groups of people to get together on St. Patrick's Day.
“So we decided not to run the day in the best interest of community safety,” he explained.
“But when all of this passes, we'll have three of them in a row,” Doherty added with a laugh.
