Strang warns of ‘dangerous’ COVID-19 scams during Tuesday news conference

Nova Scotia's chief medical officer of health is warning people to be aware of bogus claims as we continue through the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the province's news conference Tuesday, Dr. Robert Strang said there's no shortage of scammers looking to take advantage of the situation.
“Unfortunately there are unscrupulous people out there providing misinformation around products and procedures that can, for instance, 'boost your immune system' or 'cure you of COVID-19,'” Strang said.
“This information is wrong and it is dangerous.”
He's also heard of email and phone scams offering people masks, gloves and other protective equipment.
“We have no idea of the quality of that equipment, whether it actually is safe or effective to use,” Strang explained. “Don't be taken in by these people who are preying on your concerns and your fears.”
Strang said the provincial coronavirus website is updated regularly with the latest information and it links to the Public Health Agency of Canada.
“Please use that as your source of truth,” he said. “That is your entryway to get accurate information around coronavirus.”
