Municipal services affected by Victoria Day

HALIFAX – Victoria Day always comes with fireworks and closures.
Here’s a look at what is affected by the holiday in the HRM on Monday.
Solid waste removal
There won’t be any garbage pick-up on Monday.
The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility, the Halifax recycling facility and municipal composting facilities will be closed as well but will be open for regular operating hours on Tuesday, May 24.
There will be a Mobile Household Special Waste Drop-off Event on Saturday, May 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Halifax Transit’s Porters Lake Park & Ride lot located at 21 Inspiration Drive, Porters Lake, exit 20, Highway 107.
Transit
Halifax Transit will be operating on holiday service on Victoria Day.

Facilities and programs
Most municipal recreation facilities will be closed. Call ahead to your respective facility for operating hours and program information. That contact information can be found online.
Parking
On-street parking metre spaces are free on Monday. The municipality is reminding people to abide by any signage.
311 Citizen Contact Centres
The 311 Call Centre will be operating on regular hours, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., on Victoria Day.
The five Customer Service Centres that provide in-person access to municipal services and payments will be closed however, re-opening for regular business hours on Tuesday, May 24.
