Air Quality Statement issued for Halifax Area

Smoke from western wildfires will be over the area today and could impact air qualiity.
With poor weather conditions on the way, crews are trying to keep people and homes protected in B.C. as several fires continue to burn out-of-control

Smoke from western Canada is expected to impact our region Tuesday.

Environment Canada has issued an air quality statement for all of Nova Scotia including the Halifax area.

The national forecaster says the expectation is that the smoke will remain aloft, but some may make it's way to the ground which will reduce air quality.

Environment Canada says the smoke is expected to persist thought the day Tuesday and into Wednesday afternoon and will also give the sun a reddish colour.
