Among Atlantic Canadians, Nova Scotians most likely to have real Christmas tree

By Meghan Groff

With Lunenburg County being known as the Christmas tree Capital of the World, it may be no surprise that in Atlantic Canada, Nova Scotians are the mostly likely to have a real one in their home.

That's according to a new poll by Narrative Research which found 42 per cent of Nova Scotians will be putting presents under a real tree, compared with 29 per cent of those living in PEI, 20 per cent of New Brunswickers, and 19 per cent of those in Newfoundland and Labrador.

And four per cent of Atlantic Canadians will have both a real and an artificial tree.

The local polling firm found 96 per cent of East Coasters will celebrate Christmas, and of those 83 per cent will put up a tree. The likelyhood increases with household income.

The results are courtesy of 1,626 Atlantic Canadians from November 29 to December 6 through Narrative Research's online panel, East Coast Voice.
