Border between N.S., N.B. blocked by protest on Wednesday morning

Protests over Nova Scotia's decision to require modified isolation on travellers from New Brunswick continued on Wednesday morning.
As of 6 a.m., a protest had reportedly moved to the N.S.-N.B. border.
Amherst Police said Highway 104 was blocked at the border with traffic being diverted to Exit 4. Nova Scotia and New Brunswick RCMP also issued an overnight statement on the closure and said officers were on scene.
“Our officers are beginning a dialogue with protesters and we will hopefully be able to reopen the highway soon,” said Cpl. Chris Marshall in an emailed statement to HalifaxToday.ca/NEWS 95.7 at around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday.
For now, Mounties are still asking the public to avoid the area if possible.
A protest on Tuesday evening blocked traffic on the Trans-Canada Highway closer to the Cobequid Pass after Progressive Conservative MLA Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin threatened a shutdown.
The rallies came in response to Nova Scotia Premier Iain Rankin's last-minute announcement that travellers from New Brunswick would be required to isolate upon arrival, with modifications based on vaccination status.
