Cash will no longer be accepted at NSLC (Update)

By Mark Hodgins

UPDATE: The NSLC has backtracked, announcing it will accept cash if necessary.

The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation will no longer accept cash as payment.

The NSLC announced the change, effective as of Thursday, Mar. 19, as part of ongoing efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19.

It says purchases will have to be made with debit or credit.

As well, customers will be asked to bag their own product and to practice social distancing by staying back as far as possible as they wait to pay for their purchases.

Earlier this week the NSLC announced it was scaling back business hours.

Stores will now be open from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Stores will be open an hour earlier, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., for seniors and customers who are at higher risk of contracting the virus.
