A series of civil lawsuits have revealed disturbing sexual abuse allegations against a former Halifax teacher.

The lawsuits were launched in by former students and athletes between 2013 and 2017.

There are six cases total from students and athletes who allege Michael McNutt sexually assaulted them when they were under his watch.

Global News reports some of the allegations range from unwanted massages to McNutt performing sexually acts on the individuals during after-school detention during the 1980s.

The documents say all of the alleged victims ranged in age from 11 to young teenagers.

Of the six lawsuits, five allege the former Halifax Regional School Board and a number of local hockey organizations should held culpable as they should have known about his behaviour.

McNutt is already facing 27 separate criminal charges for sexual abuse allegations dating back to the 1970s

He is scheduled to appear in court next month to face those charges.
