Crash claims two lives on Highway 104

By CityNews Halifax Staff

Yesterday evening around 7:35 p.m. Pictou County RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision in Barneys River Station.

Police say in a release that a transport truck heading West veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Pontiac G6.

Two women in the car, a 51-year-old and a 74-year-old, both from Antigonish, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the transport truck was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP say the highway remains closed at this time with traffic being diverted to Highway 4 between Exits 26 and 29.

Police say their thoughts are with the family of the victims at this difficult time.
