Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park closure extended

By Meghan Groff

If you're looking for an oceanfront trail for a weekend hike, you'll have to avoid Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park.

The park remains closed.

Late last week, the carcass of an endangered blue whale washed ashore there and public access to the second and third beaches was restricted.

On Monday evening the beach shut down entirely.

It had been expected to reopen this morning, however Nova Scotia Provincial Parks now says staff probably won't be reopening the gates at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

You can check the beach's status online.
