Former chief of the Halifax Regional Police Frank Beazley has died.

In a statement, Dan Kinsella, the current police chief, called Beazley a distinguished leader who served Halifax as a police officer for 42 years.

“Starting with his career in 1970 as an officer on patrol with the Halifax Police Department, he moved up the ranks and became Chief of Halifax Regional Police in 2003,” Kinsella said. “He served in his role as Chief until 2012, proving to be an extraordinary leader who was well respected within our police service and in our community.”
