Nova Scotia's favourite weatherman has inspired T-shirts, bobbleheads, even a tattoo on a Texas man's leg, and now a book is in development.
Author Sarah Sawler is partnering with Frankie MacDonald on the project, which will be aimed at students in Grade 3.
“That's when they study the weather,” she told NEWS 95.7's The Sheldon MacLeod Show. “The main thread of the book is going to be Frankie's biography, looking at his elementary school years…and what he does now.”
There will also be lots of weather facts and information.
Sawler said MacDonald has always had an interest in the weather. Before becoming an online star, he used to send weather photos into television stations.
The Whitney Pier native shut down his first YouTube attempt after getting hateful comments, but he's since learned to ignore the trolls.
He now has a fiercely loyal worldwide fan base with over 162,000 subscribers to his channel, and his forecasts get thousands of views.
Sawler said there will be a section on bullying in the book, addressing what MacDonald, who has autism, has dealt with throughout his life. He'll also be offering up advice on how to deal with harassment.
“I think he can be an inspiration for all of us,” she said. “The opportunity to work with Frankie has been a blessing for me, I've learned so much from him.”
Be Prepared: The Frankie MacDonald Guide to Life, the Weather, and Everything is expected in stores this June.
