Gas prices expected to go up in Nova Scotia this week

By Dan Ahlstrand

Gasoline prices are on the way up across Nova Scotia.

Our newsroom has gone over the numbers and is predicting that when regulated prices are reset at midnight, they will go up by about two cents.

George Murphy of Consumers for Fair Gas Prices tells NEWS 95.7 a penny of the increase can be attributed to the imposition of a carbon tax in Nova Scotia, but the markets are in flux again this week.

“We're going to see a lot of this volatility in the markets over the next couple of weeks, as we did before Christmas,” said Murphy. “A lot of it is centered over world oversupply.”

Across the border in New Brunswick prices fell by one tenth of a cent to a new maximum price of 104.7.
