The 32nd annual Halifax Busker Festival kicks off on Wednesday afternoon.
There are a few things to keep in mind if you've never attended the event before.
Seating is an issue. Rather than hoping to find a place to sit among a sea of people, people are encouraged to bring a pillow, blanket, or folding chair to guarantee a spot.
Christina Edwards is the senior events director for the festival.
She says it's important to remember the performers are not paid by the festival, but by donation.
“Everything they make is what you put in the hat,” said Edwards. She added that if there were, for instance, five people watching the show, to take that into consideration when tipping.
Along with the buskers, the Nova Scotia Marquee stage is back with free concerts on the weekend from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., featuring JD Clarke and TJ King on Saturday, and then Reeny Smith, Christine Campbell and Blake Johnson on Sunday.
The festival wraps up on Monday night at 6 p.m. More information is available at buskers.ca.
