Halifax SAR helps hiker to safety on Bluff Wilderness Trail

By Steve MacArthur

Members of the Halifax Search and Rescue team assisted a hiker on the Bluff Wilderness Trail on Saturday.

The organization says 17 members participated in the rescue operation.

Two ground teams were deployed to help the hiker but ultimately it was determined the best way to get the person to safety was by boat.

Halifax SAR says the trail was busy spot over the weekend as hundreds of people took part in the Ride for Cancer event.

Several cyclists were temporarily stopped while the rescue team was working near the water.

No injuries were reported.
