Halifax to light Grand Parade Christmas tree Saturday

By Meghan Groff

Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting the public down to Grand Parade for the annual Christmas tree lighting.

It's a free, family-friendly event with fireworks, live entertainment and a visit from Santa.

FEED Nova Scotia will also be there collecting cash donations and non-perishable food items for those in need.

The municipality warns Argyle Street will be shut down to vehicles between Duke and Carmichael between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and drivers are asked to be extra cautious with larger-than-normal crowds of people expected in the area.

The event goes from 6 p.m. to  7 p.m. Saturday.
