Halifax Transit to stop running by late morning and garbage collection cancelled Friday

By Meghan Groff

With a storm expected to bring freezing rain and ice pellets to the Halifax area, Halifax Transit will stop running by late Friday morning.

The Halifax Regional Municipality say service, including Access-A-Bus and ferries, will wrap up for the day at 11 a.m. and won't resume until it's safe.

“Any buses in service prior to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4 will complete their routes,” HRM said in a news release.

And if Friday is your day, there's no need to haul your garbage, organics, and recyclables to the end of your driveway because curbside collection has been cancelled.

If you live in Middle Musquodoboit, Sheet Harbour or the Malay Falls areas, solid waste collection will take place on Monday, Feb. 7.

For all other areas, it will happen next Saturday (Feb. 12).

The Otter Lake Waste Management Facility, Municipal Recycling Plant, Dartmouth and Ragged Lake Composting Facilities, and Middle Musquodoboit and Sheet Harbour Refuse Depots will all be closed on Friday.

You can also expect most municipal recreation facilities to be closed.
