Hurricane Teddy prompts tropical cyclone information statement for Nova Scotia

By Meghan Groff

Environment Canada has issued a tropical cyclone information statement for Nova Scotia.

As of 2:43 p.m. Friday, it says Hurricane Teddy will likely impact parts of the Maritimes on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“Track errors this far in advance remain large, but the latest computer modelling suggests that the centre of Teddy could make landfall along the Atlantic coast of Nova Scotia late Tuesday,” said the advisory.

“Possible impacts include strong, potentially damaging winds, storm surge along with pounding surf, and heavy rainfall.”

The national weather agency's expected track as of noon Friday shows Teddy shifting slightly east from the 6 a.m. update.

The Canadian Hurricane Centre is urging Maritimers to closely monitor the forecast this weekend as the situation continues to evolve.

The centre's next update is expected at 9 a.m. Saturday.
