Nova Scotia singer surprises Canada’s Got Talent judges

A 19-year-old singer-songwriter from Cape Breton was supposed to be the sole contestant from the province to appear on this season's Canada's Got Talent.
However, Glace Bay's Evan Turnbull surprised the celebrity judges during the Mar. 21 Season Two premiere of the hit Citytv show during his audition.
Shortly after he began singing, Turnbull's twin brother emerged from the audience and joined Evan in the performance on stage unannounced.
It was a surprise that would earn accolades from the judges, who advanced the duo to the next round of the competition.
As Evan told CityNews Halifax ahead of the Mar. 21 premiere, the audition in front of celebrity judges like comedian Howie Mandel and hip hop star Kardinal Offishall went pretty smoothly.
“It wasn't too bad actually,” says Turnbull. “I find that the performing part of it wasn't too bad in front of all those people, but it's just the talking is what messes me up, tripping over my words (and) I was just really nervous to talk to them in general.”
Turnbull says his parents convinced him to try out for the show, adding that he now feels like he has “big shoes to fill” as the only contestant from Nova Scotia.
Season Two of Canada's Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Citytv+, Citytv.com, and through the Citytv app.
