Get ready for the first significant snowfall of the season, Halifax.
Environment Canada has snowfall warnings in place across Nova Scotia ahead of a storm that's forecast to bring up to 30 cm of snow by early Thursday morning.
Meteorologist Bob Robichaud expects the snow to start around the supper hour on Wednesday.
“The worst conditions should be between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. tomorrow,” Robichaud said. “I don't know how much of a commute there will be, but whatever's there will be challenging that's for sure.”
Robichaud said winds will pick up overnight creating a blowing snow problem.
“I think for the Halifax area, 20-30 cm is a good estimate right now. Some of our models are suggesting coastal areas of HRM could see more than 30 cm, so I'd be ready for that as well,” he cautioned.
Environment Canada is forecasting conditions to improve by mid morning on Thursday.
And unfortunately for snow lovers, the white stuff might not be sticking around.
“We have another system moving in for the weekend and this one is going to be a warm one with temperatures probably reaching double digits, and some gusty winds and rain as well,” Robichaud said. “It's been a busy weather stretch to say the least.”
