NEWS RELEASE
NOVA SCOTIA HEALTH
*************************
The QEII Health Sciences Centre has experienced high patient volumes and admissions this week, causing service impacts across the hospital. Patient waits in the emergency department have been longer than usual this last week.

As a result of the sustained pressure, the Central Zone emergency operations centre has been opened to further manage the response to this situation and create more inpatient capacity. We anticipate this will improve the situation in the emergency department.

Please do not hesitate to visit the QEII emergency department if you are experiencing an emergency.

Anyone with urgent medical needs should call 911.

For non-urgent care, please call your family doctor or visit a walk-in clinic.

For general health advice and information call 811, which is a service offered 24 hours a day, seven days a week by experienced registered nurses.

The Mental Health Crisis Line can also be reached 24/7 by calling 1-888-429-8167
