Halifax Regional Police believe there are people who have information that could help them advance a 30-year-old murder investigation.
At around 1 a.m. on Oct. 30, 1988, police were called to 2399 Creighton Street. When they arrived they found Donald Charles Downey with a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.
Downey had been living on Abbey Rd. at the time of his death and police say he was known to frequent the north-end and the Uniacke Square area.
They hope with the passage of time, someone with information will come forward to help them in their investigation.
Anyone who knows something but hasn't already talked to police is asked to contact investigators at 902-490-5333. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
This case is also part of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program which offers up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
