A well-known Nova Scotia singer-songwriter has died.

Laura Smith passed away on Saturday after a battle with cancer. She was 67 years old.

In a post on Saturday to a GoFundMe page set up to support Smith, organizer Ross MacDonald wrote that Smith “passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by love, joy, music and compassion from her family of friends in Mahone Bay”.

MacDonald wrote that a tribute concert in Smith's honour is scheduled to go ahead on March 29 at Casino Nova Scotia. That show will feature the likes of Heather Rankin, Myles Goodwin, Lennie Gallant, Lucy MacNeil, Dave Gunning, Terry Kelly and many more.
