Special weather statement issued for Halifax

Coastal areas of HRM could see storm surge and minor flooding near high tide on Monday night. 

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement calling for large waves, pounding surf and an elevated sea level for exposed shorelines in Halifax and Lunenberg counties. 

High tide is expected to come near 8 p.m. on Monday. 

There's also a wind warning in effect for Halifax.
