The Weather Network expecting a long and stormy winter

Nova Scotia has had its fair share of weather warnings and special weather statements this fall.
According to The Weather Network, the stormy weather isn't going anywhere.
Its forecast for December, January and February calls for a long, messy winter in Nova Scotia.
“Over the next several months we expect to see the storm track really continue to hammer Eastern Canada and our Atlantic coast, and that's going to mean maybe some wild days ahead in the winter season,” meteorologist Michael Carter told NEWS 95.7's The Sheldon MacLeod Show.
Some of those storms will stay south of Nova Scotia, making snow dumps more likely, but others will track further north bringing rain and mild temperatures.
The overall temperature outlook for Halifax has us in the normal range, which doesn't necessarily mean steady temperatures throughout the season.
Instead, Carter said we could experience wild fluctuations that average out.
“You could have a mild period followed by a bitterly cold period that cancels out when running the numbers at the end of the season and gets you to normal,” he explained.
“The term 'normal' might actually be a little bit deceiving in this case because it might be covering up some of the variability that we expect to see in the pattern in this upcoming winter.”
And bet on Shubenacadie Sam seeing his shadow in February. The Weather Network says don't count on an early spring in Atlantic Canada.
