One man is dead and two people have life-threatening injuries after a late night shooting on Canada Day.

Halifax Regional Police were called to Cork Street in the west end at 10:43 p.m. after gunshots were heard in the neighbourhood.

Responding officers found a man with gunshot wounds outside a home.

Inside they located a dead man and an injured woman. Police are describing the death as “suspicious.”

“As a result of the circumstances and the ongoing investigation, we were not in a position to initially release that one of the victims was found deceased,” police said in a news release.

The two other victims were rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe all three people are known to each other.

As of 9:30 a.m., Cork Street is still closed from Dublin to Oxford.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
