Woman killed in Highway 102 pile-up

By Meghan Groff

A woman has been killed in a crash that shut down Highway 102 in the Goffs area Thursday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the multi-vehicle collision between exits 5A and 5 at around 7 a.m.

RCMP say traffic had been back up from another crash, when a southbound Dodge Ram 1500 collided with a Subaru Outback. Both those vehicles then hit a Ford F-150 before the Ram came to rest in the median of the highway.

The passenger of the Ram, a 64-year-old Valley woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver, a 73-year-old Valley man, was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

The driver of the Subaru, a 48-year-old Grand Lake man, was also taken to hospital. He has non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford F-150 was not physically hurt.

The highway was closed for several hours while a collision reconstructionist gathered evidence from the scene. It has since reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.
