HALIFAX — Nova Scotia is reporting 26 new cases of COVID-19 today.

Officials have identified 22 cases in the Halifax area and four cases in the province’s northern zone.

The province currently has 146 active infections.

There are 10 people in hospital as a result of the disease, including one patient in intensive care.

According to provincial data, 83.1 per cent of the province’s population has had at least one shot of COVID-19 vaccine while 78.1 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the province says that starting Nov. 1, all domestic travellers to Nova Scotia aged 12 to 17 will have to follow self-isolation requirements based on their vaccination status.

With the change, everyone 12 and older needs to have their own Nova Scotia Safe Check-in form that reflects their own vaccination status, while adults can complete the form on behalf of children.

People who are fully vaccinated at least 14 days before arriving do not have to isolate, but testing is recommended. People who are not fully vaccinated must isolate for at least seven days and get two negative test results in Nova Scotia to stop isolating after seven days.

Officials say children who are 11 and under will continue to isolate based on the status of the least vaccinated adult they are travelling with and they can be included on the Nova Scotia Safe Check-in form for that adult.
