Man charged in random weekend attack

A Halifax man has been charged in a random attack that happened over the weekend.
After 2 a.m. on Sunday near Agricola and North streets, police say a woman walking home was physically assaulted by someone who tried to pull her into an isolated area.
Someone saw it happen and intervened, then the suspect ran off.
The victim was treated at the scene by EHS and police say she didn't know her attacker.
Colton William Chappell, 28, of Halifax, has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, suffocating to overcome resistance, forcible confinement and sexual assault.
He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
