Man charged in robbery at knifepoint

A man is facing several charges after a robbery at knifepoint earlier this week.

At around 6 p.m. Monday in the area of Waterside Terrace, Halifax Regional Police say a man with a knife went up to a woman and demanded she hand over some of her things.

Police say he cut her hand and took her property before leaving in a vehicle that matched the description of one reported stolen over the weekend.

Soon after, the woman's credit card was used to make purchases at two different stores.

A suspect was arrested on Ridgevalley Road in Cowie Hill Tuesday night, and police say they recovered the stolen vehicle at that location.

Tyrin Francis Gibson, 21 is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face the following charges:

  • Robbery
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Possession weapons dangerous
  • Uttering Threat to cause death
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fraud by credit card
  • Fraud under $5,000
