Halifax Regional Police have charged a man in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in Halifax last month.
Renaldo Antonio Lewis, 33, of Eastern Passage was charged with one count of sexual assault. Investigators with the Sexual Assault Investigative Team of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division charged him and he is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
On Oct. 22, police received a report of a sexual assault that occurred in a Halifax north end residence. A man employed as a technician with Data Wiring Solutions, who was working in the area, sexually assaulted a woman he did not know.
Police are not providing any further details to protect the victim.
“Sexual assault investigations are complex,” the news release says. “As part of our victim-centered, trauma-informed approach to sexualized violence, we work closely with victims to determine if they wish to proceed with an investigation and charges. Police must also ensure the victim’s privacy is upheld and their well-being is fully considered.”
