Halifax Regional Police are after a witness saw what appeared to be a man forcing a young teen into a car in the west end Friday night.

It happened just before 9 p.m. near Vienna and Oxford streets.

The witness told police the man appeared to be chasing a girl, who was running away from him.

“The man grabbed the girl, forced her into a car that was waiting in the area and directed the driver to drive away,” police said in a news release.

“A boy who was in the back seat of the car told a bystander that he knew the girl and everything was okay.”

After the car left, another vehicle picked up the man and both were last seen heading towards Chebucto Road.

“The caller did the right thing by reporting the matter to police so officers could investigate and determine what had occurred,” HRP said.

The girl is described as white, approximately 13-years-old with a thin build and curly brown hair.

The man is described as white, bald with a heavy build and a darker goatee.

The boy is described as white, approximately 13-years-old with red hair.

The car is described as small and silver. The other vehicle is described as a silver SUV.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
