Police look for person of interest in hate crime

Halifax Regional Police are turning to the public to help them identify a person of interest in a hate crime.

Police say a number of stickers with an anti-Semitic message were put up in early September in the south end around South Park Street, Spring Garden Road and Summer Street.

The person of interest is described as a white man in his 60s. He's around 5'6″ with a slim build and is clean shaven.

He was wearing a round brim hat, a brown or tan jacket or trench coat and he may have been carrying an old-style suitcase or briefcase.

It's thought he may frequent the areas of Spring Garden Road, Quinpool Road or the area near the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

“Investigators believe this man may have information that could assist with the investigation into this incident,” police said in a news release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 902-490-5016 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
