Two suspects sought in homicide of 8-year-old

Halifax Regional Police are looking for two suspects in the homicide of an 8-year-old boy Tuesday in Dartmouth.

At around 4 p.m., officers were called to Windmill Rd. near Waddell Ave. for a shooting involving two vehicles.

“Shots were fired at a vehicle, hitting an 8-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man,” said Cst. John MacLeod at a news conference Wednesday.

“The 8-year-old boy was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where he died. The man was treated for non-life threatening injuries.”

Police have identified the boy as Lee-Marion Cain and say they do not believe the shooting was a random incident.

The suspects have been described as two Black men driving a burgundy SUV — possibly a Chevrolet — with tinted windows.

MacLeod said the investigation is still in its early stages.

“If anyone out there has information in relation to this, we encourage you to come forward and speak to our investigators,” he stated. “This has been a very tragic loss in our community and we would hope that anyone would help move this investigation forward.”

MacLeod added even small pieces of information could be important.

Police can be contacted by calling 902-490-5020 and anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
