Spotlight: Falling in Love with Indigo Shores

By Kara Colynuck

Ask anyone over 35 what they remember most fondly about their childhood in Nova Scotia, and you’ll hear a lot of similar answers. Smiles light up faces and eyes soften as the memories come flooding back: playing outside until the stars came up; riding your bicycle so fast that you felt like you were flying; cannonballs in the lake; fishing in the river; hide and seek amongst the tall trees. These are some of the experiences that shaped us and inspired our taste for adventure.

Maybe, in part, it’s this sense of nostalgia that draws people to the lakeside community of Indigo Shores. As we watch our children grow, we want them to experience those moments that have stayed with us into adulthood. We want to drink coffee on the porch while they roam freely, their joyous laughter competing with songbirds to be the most predominant sound in the air. When we feel safe giving them space and freedom, their imaginations and spirits soar, and they create memories that will one day be fondly recounted to their children.

Indigo Shores, with spacious wooded lots and access to McCabe Lake and the Sackville River, is a treasure trove for young families seeking the ultimate home base for memory-making. Fishing, hiking, skating, and biking don’t require a road trip or any advance planning – they’re just beyond the front door. The wind in the trees, the stars in the sky, and the abundant wildlife in this area are nature’s amenities – free, and priceless. Best of all, this picturesque community is just 20 minutes from downtown Halifax, making for a hassle-free commute to and from work.

Some of the most sought-after builders in the region have also fallen in love with Indigo Shores. Stonewater Homes, Bowers Construction, Homes by Highgate and Marchand Homes are just a few of the big names doing incredible things on the shores of McCabe Lake. Every home in this community is beautiful and unique, much like the families who inhabit them.

Indigo Shores is the community of choice for both QEII Home Lottery Grand Prize Showhomes in 2018. Thousands of people flocked to the spring Showhome, built by Stonewater Homes, finding themselves wowed by the craftsmanship, the “I could live here” comfort, and the location, with a front row seat to McCabe Lake’s sunsets, which paint the sky with vivid colour. Later this year, Destiny Homes will unveil their fall Showhome, another finely built creation on the lake that will have ticket holders crossing fingers and toes, hoping to be the lucky winner.

There’s a special feeling that exists in Indigo Shores, one that can’t be perfectly described with words or photos. If you’re ready to build the home of your dreams in the perfect spot for making cherished memories, hop in the car and make the short trip to Middle Sackville. You’ll be sure to feel that magic
too.

Building lots in Indigo Shores start at $90,000
