Mooseheads blown out by Wildcats 6-1

The Halifax Mooseheads dropped their third straight Tuesday night in a 6-1 blowout at the hands of the Moncton Wildcats.
The Wildcats (20-10-1-2) came off an emotional win over the Saint John Sea Dogs Sunday where they ended the Sea Dogs’ 22 game winning streak, three short of the league record for most consecutive wins.
The Mooseheads found themselves down early when referee Todd Thomander called a penalty shot for Alex Saulnier 3:20 into the game.
However it appeared the Mooseheads would make a game out of it when Tomas Knotek scored his 17th of the season just three minutes later. But that would be the end of the scoring for the Mooseheads and the beginning of the onslaught for the Wildcats.
The Mooseheads played a very undisciplined game, Garrett Clarke made four trips to the penalty box in the game.
Marek Hrivik would add two goals for the Wildcats, meanwhile Daniel Pettersson, Scott Brannon and Allain Saulnier rounded out the scoring for the Moncton team who went 3 for 7 on the powerplay.
The Mooseheads (7-24-1-2) continue on the road Thursday against the Saint John Sea Dogs (30-5-1-0), the league’s top team. The Sea Dogs then travel to Halifax to play Friday before the Mooseheads break for Christmas.
Game Notes: This was the last game for Mooseheads leading scorer Tomas Knotek, he will head off to join the Czech Republic team at the World Junior hockey championships in Saskatchewan.
