Traffic police will be watching 102 interchange

Metro’s top traffic cop is adding people who speed through the the Larry Uteck interchange to his naughty list.

Sgt. Mike Spearns says the constrution zone around the interchange has “do not overtake” signs and a reduced speed limit for a reason.

“What we want people to do is respect the construction workers that are in that area,” he said. “When they’re out on the road and cars are going by at 80 km an hour, let alone having cars come through there at 110 or 120.

Spearns says many people aren’t prepared when the roadway is reduced to one lane and it’s leading to accidents, like the four that happened on Wednesday.

He says patrol cars will be in the area today ticketing motorists who don’t obey the rules.
