Getting around in Halifax on Saturday was a task for the very brave, or the very foolish.
RCMP were telling drivers to stay home, and off the roads. Halifax Regional Police told News95.7 that they had dealt with a few minor collisions, but that it appeared most people were staying out of the storm.
At Halifax Stanfield International Airport, most Saturday afternoon flights were being impacted by the weather. The arrivals and departure boards were awash in yellow and red delays and cancellations.
“It is up to each individual airline if they’ll fly in certain weather conditions,” said airport spokesperson Ashley Barnes. “That’s why it’s so to stress that travellers check online or call their airline directly for flight status, before actually making their way out to the airport.”
