Winter storm wallops Maritimes and will again

We’re less than two full days into the new year and Halifax is already dealing with its first major blast of winter in 2010.
Last night saw about 10-15 centimetres of the white stuff come down and the snow is a long way from finished.
Our meteorologist Richard Zurawski says the weather will pick back up by mid-morning on Saturday, bringing another 20-30 centimetres of snow and winds gusting up to 110 kilometres an hour.
“The worst is yet to come, the storm is going to redevelop and that’s part of the problem,” Zurawski said. “The first pass of the storm went through overnight Friday, however it’s going to double back and move back into the Maritimes.”
The snow won’t be the only problem out there for people trying to get around.
Zurawski also notes that when the snow tapers off and things warm up we’ll get 5-10 millimetres of rain.
