Penalties turn Mooseheads into roadkill

The PEI Rocket defeated the Halifax Mooseheads 4-1 in Charlottetown Sunday afternoon.
The Rocket on a dismal six-game slide after trading away most of their star players managed to get on the board with a powerplay goal midway through the period. The Mooseheads would take six minors during the game.
Benjamin Casavant and Michael Stinziani added goals to build a 3-0 lead in the second period. Samson Mahbod rounded out the Rocket scoring with a pair of goals.
Gabriel Desjardins would get the Mooseheads’ only goal, scoring a powerplay goal early in the third period with assists from Jessyko Bernard and Matthew Boudreau. The team was buzzing after the goal but it was too little too late.
The Mooseheads were supposed to be already in Bathurst, however their Saturday night game there was cancelled due to weather. The team therefore didn’t leave Halifax until Sunday morning, arriving in Charlottetown just a few hours prior to game time.
Linden Bahm left the game after crashing into the boards. He was taken to the hospital in Charlottetown with a suspected fractured wrist.
19-year-old Charles Bety was serving the first game of a two game suspension, after a hit-from-behind during the Cape Breton game last week.
The team is expecting to have captain Tomas Knotek and rookie Brent Andrews back from international competition for their next game. The Mooseheads host Montreal Friday. You can catch the game live on News 95.7 with pregame getting underway at 6:48.
