Trade deadline day in QMJHL a busy one

The Halifax Mooseheads made two trades on the QMJHL deadline day, which included several blockbuster deals.

The herd picks up 17-year-old P.E.I Rocket winger and Dartmouth, NS native Bradley MacDonald for centre Guillaume Pelletier.

Halifax also acquired 19-year-old goaltender Peter Delmas from the Remparts for a sixth-round pick in 2011.

MacDonald practiced with the team Thursday afternoon, and Delmas will arrive in the city Thursday night.

The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies bolstered their lineup with two members of Team Canada’s World Junior squad, picking up Jordan Caron and Patrice Cormier from the Rimouski Oceanic in return for Michael Beaudry, Alexandre Mallet, two first round picks in 2010 and a first and second round pick in 2012.

The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles sent defenceman Eric Gelinas, a first-round pick in 2010 and a second-round pick in 2011 to Chicoutimi for 30-goal-scorer Jacob Lagace.’

The Screaming Eagles also sent  defencemen Mathieu Leduc and Youssef Kabbaj  to Val-D’Or in return for 2nd and 5th round picks in 2010.

The rest of the deadline day deals:

Moncton picks up centre Kelsey Tessier from Quebec for winger Matthew Brown and goalie Louis Domingue.

Matthew Bissonnette to Lewiston for Chicoutimi’s 1st, 3rd and 5th-round pick in the 2010 draft.

Alexander Beaton and a seventh-round pick in 2011 will head from Lewiston to Gatineau for a third-round selection in 2010.

Acadie-Bathurst sends Derek Famulare to P.E.I. for a seventh-round pick in 2010. Meanwhile the Titans pickup centre Danny Chiasson from Rimouski for a 10th-round pick in 2011.

Rimouski, meanwhile, sends centre Nicholas Samoluk to Quebec for a seventh-round pick in 2011.

Quebec sent defenceman Samuel Groulx to Victoriaville for winger Olivier Hinse, defenceman Patrick Dore and a second-round pick in 2012.

The PEI Rocket picked up a fourth round draft pick in 2011 from Val-d’Or for defenceman Dylan C. Capstick.

Montreal sent winger Marc-Andre Levasseur to the Sagueneens for a third-round pick in 2010.
