Mooseheads lose 4-1 to Montreal Junior

Soft goals lead to the Halifax Mooseheads demise at the Metro Centre Friday night.
“It was a bit of a quiet room tonight, a bit quieter than I would’ve like, but that’s what you got to expect when you have five or six new players in the room,” said head coach and general manager Cam Russell.
The Montreal Junior dealt their number one goaltender Jake Allen on the league’s trading deadline Thursday. The two teams skated to a scoreless tie in the first period, and the young Mooseheads appeared to have some jump in their step.
The second period was a different story.
Goaltender Mathieu Corbeil was pulled after the Montreal Junior managed to build a 3-0 lead on goals he’d like to have back.
“The first one was an unlucky goal, the second wasn’t a very a goal, the third one it wasn’t the best goal,” says Russell.
Newly acquired 19-year-old Peter Delmas wouldn’t get the start he wanted, as the first shot he faced found the netting making it 4-0.
“Delmas he came in, he was up early this morning it was very busy for him yesterday, it’s been a long 24 hours, he let that first one go in but after that he looks solid,” says Russell.
Russell says Delmas will start Saturday’s game against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. The Eagles (24-14-2-3) made several additions at the trade deadline including 30-goal scorer Jacob Lagace. Russell calls them a tough opponent.
“We’re going to have to play them a little more physical than we played tonight.”
