Mooseheads end losing streak with impressive win

The Halifax Mooseheads cracked their longest losing streak of the season, with a convincing 5-1 decision over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens at Metro Centre Friday.
“I thought we came out with a real solid first period, It was a good effort by the guys,” says Mooseheads head coach Cam Russell.
After a scoreless first period the Mooseheads opened the floodgates with a couple of firsts. Scoring their first goal in seven periods when new acquisition Bradley MacDonald would pick up his first goal in a Moosheads jersey. MacDonald would also end up first star on the night.
“(MacDonald) played well, I like that line, him Desjardin and Bety, they have skill, speed and they play physical,” says Russell.
“They’re only 17 but they played like seasoned veterans out there, if we can have them put that kind of effort in every night we’re going to have more success out there.”
Then midway through the second Travis Randell would get a goal on a pretty 3-on-2 rush. And Jessyko Bernard would add a tip-in shot just a few minutes later. Brent Andrews and Carl Gelinas would round out the Mooseheads scoring in the third period.
“If we’re going to have success we’re going to have to have that secondary scoring,” says Russell.
The Mooseheads outshot the Sagueneens 40-18, and 19-year-old goaltender Peter Delmas was working on a shutout until Emrik Guillemette would manage the only Sagueneens goal.
The Mooseheads play the Drummondville Voltiguers next, who boast an impressive roster.
