RCMP investigate bus-in-river crash

RCMP are doing a mechanical inspection on a banged up Acadian Lines bus Monday.

One person remained in hospital Monday afternoon after the bus left the TransCanada Saturday night and ended up in an icy river.

It was blizzard-like when the bus crashed through a guard rail, into the Tracadie River near Monastery.

Five of the six on the bus initially ended up in hospital.

“Fortunately, only by the grace of God, none of these individuals sustained life-threatening injuries,” says RCMP Sgt. Brigdit Legere.

Even though it looks like weather was the main factor, police will investigate all possible contributing factors.

Legere says there were a lot of heroes there Saturday, and the work done by first responders was phenomenal.
