Karissa’s memory honoured with memorial pet food drive

Bridgewater residents will hold a pet food drive today to mark the second anniversary of Karissa Boudreau’s death.

The 12-year-old was strangled by her mother, who dumped Karissa’s body and called police to say she was missing.

Penny Boudreau pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last year and was sentenced to life in prison.

Today, Karissa’s family will hold a pet food drive at the Bridgewater Mall from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with donations going to the Lunenburg County SPCA. Donations can also be made in Karissa’s name to any other local SPCA branch.

Karissa’s aunt, Chastity Grear, tells the Herald Karissa loved helping animals …and the family wants to honour her memory by keeping that dream alive.
