Starting Monday, no more warnings for people using cell phones while driving

RICHMOND (NEWS1130) – It’s a friendly reminder from Richmond RCMP, and something drivers all over the Lower Mainland need to hear.

The grace period for people caught using hand-held cell phones and devices while on the road is ending February 1st. Drivers have been receiving warning tickets since January 1st when a new provincial law took effect, banning hand-held devices behind the wheel.

Tickets will be handed out starting Monday. A violation could set you back $167 and three points on your driver’s licence.
