All names involved in auditor general’s report released

The Speaker of the House handed out documents Wednesday, disclosing all names implicated in the auditor general’s report.
The auditor general’s review of expenses has already rocked the province’s political system but not everything was made public when his report was released last week.
According to the information released this afternoon, former Bedford PC MLA Len Goucher lead all MLA’s in submitting expenses over the last three years, wracking up $38,694.14 in expenses.
It included the purchase of 11 computers, 12 printers, five cameras and four video recorders.
Tory Alphie MacLeod leads the way for current MLAs and is second only to Goucher in expenses, wracking up more than $33,000 in expenses for office renovations, land, and a $500 painting for the office.
Richard Hurlburt’s generator and television were already disclosed, but the former Yarmouth MLA also bought another television for his office worth $800.
Two others also bought two televisions each, Liberal Dave Wilson and former independent MLA Ernie Fage.
Two former Tory MLA’s also purchased generators, Bill Dooks and Carolyn Bolivar-Getson.
The scandal has already claimed one casualty with Richard Hurlburt’s resignation Tuesday.
Liberal Leader Stephen McNeil applauded the release of the information.
“The details in this letter will go a long way to answering many of the questions Nova Scotians have about how their MLAs have been spending taxpayers’ money,” said McNeil in a release.
“This additional information gathered by the Auditor General will help Nova Scotians judge for themselves.”
