Cocaine found at container port

More than 200 kilograms of cocaine worth more than $10 million were found at the Port of Halifax this week.

The RCMP and Canada Border Services Agency showed off the haul Thursday.

The drugs were found in a number of black bags at the back of a container during a routine check.

“The drugs arrived in Canada on February 8 and were located inside a container inside a vessel originating in Chile,” says Andrew Lefrank with Canadian Border Services Agency.

No arrests have been made and police aren’t sure where the drugs may have been destined, but they don’t think it was meant for distribution within Nova Scotia.
