February long weekend not ruled out by government

The provincial government isn’t shutting the door on the possibility of a mid-winter holiday for Nova Scotians.
“Any major change in the statutory holidays would have to be discussed with businesses and other employers,” says Labour Minister Marilyn More.
“We do have the fewest statutory holidays, I think, across Canada, but the timing and the impact would have to be carefully studied.”
Liberal MLA Diana Whalen again called for a mid-February statutory holiday and says she plans to introduce a private members bill to that effect in the upcoming spring session of the legislature.
Five provinces have adopted a mid-February holiday. Residents in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and PEI all had the day off Monday.
