Former MLA says spending scandal is low point in his public life

Former Bedford MLA Len Goucher is breaking his silence over the MLA expense scandal.
“The one thing I still want to get through is that I didn’t break policy,” says Goucher. “The money that I expensed was within policy guidelines.”
He says he feels like he’s the poster boy for excessive expenses. He spent nearly $46,000 over three years including buying 11 computers, 12 printers and four video recorders.
Goucher says they were given an allowance and they were urged to use it or lose it. He admits, however, he was naive following that advice.
“When you come into government you are told that the speaker’s office is not subject to (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act), that your expenses are your expenses,” says Goucher.
He says he still isn’t sure how an X-Box game for his grandson made it on the list, but says he’s paying that money back.
